He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Wesley Burns and Josephine Burns; his wife Barbara Burns (Zemke); his children, Colleen O'Rourke, Mike Burns (Dianne) and Ryan Burns (Angela); his grandchildren, Lacy Mihelich (Christian), Lane Tilmon, Rhiley Martin-O'Rourke (Tyler), Lauren McFadden (Marshall), Meaghan O'Rourke, Amanda Rosso (Nick) and Evelina Burns; and his great grandchildren, Tristen, Brynlee, Charlotte, Calvin, Lucy, Roy and Cecilia.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church (4125 Woodbury Dr, Woodbury, MN 55125).
