He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Smith and Mayme Smith-Kilker; his siblings, Gloria Wiese and Keith Smith; and his great grandchild Keeston Thier.

He is survived by: his wife Rita Bohn; his children, Pat Smith (Kris), JoAnne Harberts (Brian), Mike Smith (Stacy), Jen Smith and Melissa Langstraat (Mark); his sister Paulette Daggett (David); and his sister-in-law Marcia Smith. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren.
