He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Sorenson and Josephine Sorenson (Peters); his grandparents, George Sorenson and Lizzie Sorenson; and his sister Jean Faldet.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Sorenson; his son Scott Sorenson (Stefanie); his stepchildren, JoAnne Ryan, Stacey Roslansky, Kerry Prins (Jerrit) and Jason Roslansky (Joni); and his siblings, Chuck Sorenson and Pat Hawkson. He is also survived by seven step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren.
