The memory of Donald Leroy Maples of Alba, Missouri, born in Huron, South Dakota, who passed away on May 17, 2025 at the age of 97, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Maples and Juanita Maples; his wife Wanda Maples; his siblings, Billy Maples, Jr., Shirley Jiles, Maxine Campbell, Tom Maples, Jim Maples and Pat Busby; and his grandson Brandon Stephenson.
He is survived by: his children, Nancy Stephenson of Alba, Debra Fetters of Joplin, Margaret "Margo" Byrd (John) of Carthage, Jennie Lassiter (Bill) of Oronogo and Roy Maples (Tammy) of Oronogo; and his siblings, Gene Maples (Linda), John Maples, Carl Maples (Carol) and Betty Priester. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Simpson Funeral Home (400 W Daugherty St, Webb City, MO 64870). A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM and at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests be made to one of the following organizations, all in care of the funeral home: VFW Post 7630, American Legion Post 322, or the Alba Christian Church.
