He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Jacob Sassmann and Lydia Krause Sassmann; his son Randy Sassmann; his son-in-law Dale Dankenbring; his great grandchild Sayler Dierker; and his siblings, Wesley Sassmann, Gilbert Sassmann, Arthur Sassmann, Ruby Foose and Ruth Hammack.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Sassmann; and his children, Patty Dankenbring of Waverly, Dale Sassmann (Loretta) of Marshall and Jim Sassmann (Tammy) of Cole Camp. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
