He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Schmidt and Evelyn Shields Schmidt; his wife June Marilyn Winter; his daughter-in-law Debra Schmidt; and his brother Charles Schmidt.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Schmidt of Waverly, Lori McKinney (Marvin) of Waverly and Cody Schmidt (Sarah) of Waverly; his grandchildren, Drew Schmidt and Ava Schmidt of Waverly; his stepgrandchildren, Stacy McKinney (Mary) of Columbia, MO and Gini Vance of Ridgeway, MO; and his brothers, Gale Schmidt (Lois) of Waverly and Gary Schmidt (Diane) of Excelsior Springs, MO. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
