He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. Swope and Leola Swope (Freeman); his siblings, Rosemary Edwards (Don), Martin Louis and Alice Swope; and his son-in-law Thomas Barnett Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Maxine (Sonderegger); his children, Denny (Wilma) of Stewartsville, Danny (Donna) of Maysville, Jeanne of Amity, Larry Dean of Amity, Julie (Rob) of Oak City, NC and Marty of Amity; his grandchildren, Jeremy (Nicole), Jennifer (Chris), Shana (Brad), Camilla (Robert), Lauren (Dave), Codie, Logan (Kari), Jerod (Michelle), Whitney (Brandon), Dillon Clemens and Megan (Garrett); his stepgranddaughter Cayla Nicole Black; his great grandchildren, Charlotte Rose, Emma Mae, Caleb Christopher, Camden Lee, Robert Asa V, Ryker Daniel, Remi Lou, Harper Grace, Hagen Clarence, Harley Jean, Natalie Nicole, Riley James, Amelia Skye, Faye Rosalie, Kynsee Louise, Izolde Marie, Scout McCoy, Sawyer Lee, Liam Bryce, Brooks Alan and Griffin Noel; his stepgreat-granddaughter Natilee Richardson; his sister Pat Croat (Thomas) of St. Louis; and his siblings-in-law, Billy Sonderegger (Sherrie) of Amity and Colene Pankau of Clarksdale. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
