He was predeceased by: his parents, Ollie Townsend and Mabel Townsend (Fletcher); his son Jimmy Townsend; and his siblings, Wanda, Wallsey, George, Joe and Robert.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Horton; and his children, Ricky Townsend of Jane, Jody Townsend (Trudy) of Jane and Sandra Richardson (Kenneth) of Jane. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
