He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Daniels and Gladys Daniels; and his partner Beverly Osborn. He is survived by: his children, Jason Daniels, Leah Daniel, Jamie Portell and John Brankovic (Mercy); and his grandchildren, Otto and Kylie.

“News that John Scott Daniels has passed away is devastating! John and I met at SMA in September of 1967, and we became fast friends. That friendship has spanned lifetimes! His was my longest friendship with another SMA cadet - almost 69 years, and it was the very best! Until recently, we had been in touch by phone, but Beverly's passing made John's path difficult, and he was adjusting to life without her. I will always cherish John's love and friendship for as long as I live. Rest in Peace!”
