He was predeceased by: his parents, Jewell, Sr. Wilson and Lettie Wilson (Leonard); his niece Cheryl Stokes; and his brother-in-law Ernie Broeker. He is survived by: his children, Daphne Phillips (Michael) of Ashland and Michael Stoneberger of Ashland; his grandchildren, Taylor Balk (Christian) of Ashland, Courtney Phillips of Chicago, IL and Bailey Phillips of Ashland; his great grandchildren, Blakely Phillips, Decker Balk and Mila See; and his sisters, Patsy Ryan of Kansas City, Loretta Spires of Mexico and Lettie Broeker of Mexico. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the Arnold Funeral Home (425 S Jefferson St, Mexico, MO 65265). A burial was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Elmwood Cemetery (1900 W Liberty St, Mexico, MO 65265).
Jewell had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed rebuilding engines, often generously donating his finished projects to someone in need of reliable transportation.
