He is survived by : his wife Helen Pollock; his children, Brenda Rhoades (Dennis), Randy Thomas (Tami), Richard Lee Thomas and Virginia Shaon (Donnie); his grandchildren, Johnny Rhoades (Kara), Brandy Ryman (Dan), Christine Baker (Josh), Angie and Andrew Thomas; his great grandchildren, Kiley Miller (Trevor), Madison, Kinslee Rhoades, Regan, Rhett Ryman, Holden, Greysen and Carter Baker; and his great great grandchildren, Liam and Sophia Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN, 37214-0800.

Tiffany Henry wrote a sympathy message

“We will not be able to make it Dale's services tomorrow but wanted to extend our condolences to his family. My husband worked with Dale for many of years for the City of Columbia. They loved to wheel and deal and shot the bull any chance they got. Dale was truly a great guy and will truly be missed. Our hearts go out to you all. Sincerely Jimmy and Debbie Henry”
