He was predeceased by : his parents, Eugene Higgins and Evelyn Higgins; his sister Loretta Higgins; his son Christopher Higgins; and his grandson Christopher Hayes.

He is survived by : his wife Jeanne Higgins; his children, Cathy Holland and Joseph Higgins II (JT); his grandchildren, Brooke, Derek, Amber, Shannon and Anthony; his great grandchild Aubree; and his sisters, Sheila Strong and Janet Lee. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Metro.
