He was predeceased by : his parents, Leslie "Les" Carter and Alice Joyce Carter (Ralph); and his sister Jeannie Bond. He is survived by : his wife Cinda Turpin; his son Trent Cater (Susan) of Overland Park, KS; his grandchildren, Emily and Will Carter; his sister Judy Spencer; his niece Lisa Gorden; and his nephew Todd Bond.
