He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Webster Real and Virginia May Dryer Real. He is survived by: his sisters, Sharon Hillyard and Karon Ray; his brother-in-law Allan Ray; and his siblings' children, David Ray, Kenneth Hillyard, Kent Hillyard and Sherene Carpenter. He is also survived by six great nephews and one great niece and ten great-great nieces and nephews.
