He was predeceased by: his parents, David Daniel and Mildred Bates, Sr. (Pitfield); his great grandchild Jedidiah Loyd; and his sisters, Mary Elaine Boudreaux, Jeannie Knox and Cathy Morris.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Ann Bates (Anderson); his children, Tammy Dickson (Jeff) of Blue Springs, MO and David Daniel Bates III of Raytown, MO; his grandchildren, Rachelle Loyd (Jordan), Cristina Metzger (Gary), Grant Pember (Kennedie), Kevin Pacheco, Edward Whaley and Austin Bates; his great grandchildren, Joshua, Adeline, Eliza, Joelle, Mila Jo, Odelia, Brody and Bobbie; and his siblings, Barbara Rothermel (Phil) of Georgia, Judy Mitchell (Earl) of Oklahoma, Diane Ledingham (Jeff) of Ocean Springs, MS, Jimmy Bates of Biloxi, MS and Joseph Bates (Cathy) of Biloxi, MS. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Blue Springs Assembly (2501 E Duncan Rd, Blue Springs, MO 64029). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Greenton Cemetery (9345 Greenton Rd, Odessa, MO 64076).
Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association or Wounded Warriors.
