He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Fred Gurnsey Jr. and Bobbie Gurnsey; his wife Christina Mayhugh; his daughter Kelley Gurnsey; his grandchildren, Kylie and Jordan Begulia; and his caregiver Nicole Zwick.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Humane Society of greater Kansas City.
