He was predeceased by : his parents, Velma E. Smith (Flinn) and Velma Sloniker; and his sisters, Marge Dailey, Anita Hein and Vera Jones.

He is survived by : his wife Jan; his children, Sam Smith, Julie Rich (Larry) and Bryan Smith; and his granddaughters, Amy Rich, Kelly Rich, Cortney Turrell (Mike), Tiffanie English (Jarred), Brittnee Bryan (Chase), Whitnee Smith and Sydney Smith.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Connection Point Church Orchestra in Raytown or St Lukes Hospice House in Kansas City.
