He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Sedgwick and Virginia Sedgwick (Johnson); his wife Martha Jane Gilmer; and his siblings, Jim Sedgwick, Bill Sedgwick, Jack Sedgwick, Fay Covey and Kay Cooper.
He is survived by: his children, Sandra Stamper (Paul) of Grain Valley, MO and Darel "Layne" Sedgwick (Lori) of Oak Grove, MO; his grandchildren, Kyle Stamper (Melinda Martin), Kara Stevenson (Lucas), Dustan Sedgwick (Jordan), Shayne Sedgwick and Luke Sedgwick (Malleigh); and his great grandchildren, Lyndin, Wyatt, Lynnen, Walker, Ryder, Mason, Weston, Josey and Rowan. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs (1600 W Main St, Blue Springs, MO 64015). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery (20109 MO-13 BUS, Higginsville, MO 64037).
