He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Kempker and Gesina Kempker (Toebben); and his siblings, Sylvester Kempker (Marie), Clarence Kempker (Gertrude), Edward Kempker (JoAnn), Herbert Kempker (Helen), Lawrence Kempker (Dolly), Melvin Kempker (Lorraine), Raymond Kempker (Cecilia), Wilford Kempker (Jean), Harry Kempker (Evelyn), Vernita Woehr (Joe), Angeline Maasen (Leo) and Genny Rose Glauson (Ed).

He is survived by: his wife Cecilia; his children, Ronnie Kempker (Lisa), Richard Kempker (Darla), Daniel Kempker (Angie) and Donna Sanford (Randy); and his brother Bernard Kempker.
