He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Simmons and Marie "Helen" Angerman (Vollrath); his wife Darlene Simmons; his siblings, Virginia Simmons and Ernest Simmons Jr.; and his great grandchild Rose Darlene Nelson.
He is survived by: his daughter Teresa Nelson (Richard) of Boonville; his brother Kenneth Simmons of Boonville; his grandchildren, Jake Nelson (Kaitlyn), Anna Watring (Corey), Richie Nelson and Suzane Nelson; and his great grandchildren, Tenna, Madison of Piper, RC, John, Wyatt and Grace.
