He was predeceased by: his parents, Lela Mae Walker (James Franklin Tarpein) and Brashear; his brothers, Kevin Tarpein and Paul; his son-in-law Adam Bruner; and his pet Tick.

He is survived by: his grandsons, Sam Tarpein (Dora) and Jack Tarpein of Indiana; his great grandchildren, Valentina and Lazaro Tarpein; his siblings, Dee Moylan (Bob) and Rick Tarpein (Corina); and his sister-in-law Mary Tarpein.
