We announce the death of Stephen Edwin Slater of Brookfield, Missouri, who passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 78. Stephen will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Slater and Martha Greene. He is survived by: his fiancée Barbara Todd; his children, Wyman Slater (Nina) and Stephanie Carriker (Erin); his stepchildren, Ryan Menconi (Amy) and Eric Menconi (Sonya); his grandchildren, Zack Slater (Latisha), Amanda Maddox (Aaron), Marcus Slater and Jenna Knapp (Joseph); his stepgrandchildren, Aiden, Hayleigh Carriker, Drake Menconi (Rachel Head), Jenna, Trent and Keagan Menconi; his great grandchildren, Paisleyh, Presleyh, Payton Slater, Laken and Deaken Maddox; and his great-step-granddaughter Emersyn Brosdahl. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Old New Garden Cemetery.
