He was predeceased by : his mother Minnie H. DeWeese (Cordray). He is survived by : his father Major C. DeWeese, Sr.; his siblings, Margo Arp (Dennis) and Harry Wayne DeWeese (Shirley); and his grandchildren, Jessica Rauer (Zach), Sarina Soligo, Austin Kingsolver, Nick Hartman and Mariah Peterson.

Annette Huff wrote a sympathy message

“Carter was my best friend when i was 2 years old. Mom says he taught me how to talk because i never talked until he moved in next door. My earliest memories of carter are of he and i dancing somewhere that our parents had taken us and carter fell asleep on my shoulder. Mom says she can't believe i can remember that, but i do.
