He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry DeWeese and Gertrude DeWeese (Smith); his son Major Jr.; his brothers, Ronald, Harry and Roland; and his son-in-law Dennis Arp.

He is survived by: his children, Margo Arp of Brunswick and Wayne DeWeese (Shirley) of Bennetsville, SC; his grandchildren, Shaune Kingsolver of Kansas City, MO, Dawn Peterson (Troy) of Liberty, MO, Brian Arp of Columbia, MO, Shannon Arp (Samantha) of Independence, MO and John Caroll DeWeese of Bennetsville, SC; his great grandchildren, Madeline Arp, Izzy Garcia, Jessica Rauer (Zach), Sarina Soligo, Austin Kingsolver, Nick Hartman and Mariah Peterson; and his great great grandchildren, Rory Arp and Riley Rauer.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Powell Cemetery or Zion Church of Indian Grove.
