He was predeceased by: his father Richard A. Bates. He is survived by: his mother Pamela K. Wood (Pruitt); his wife Kathryn Bates (Scott); his sons, Tyler Bates and Justin Bates; his stepchildren, Brenna Hart (Will) and Dalton Taylor (Halina); his grandchildren, Emberlyn Hart and Ezra Taylor; his stepfather Robert Wood; and his siblings, David Bates, Tony Trujullo, Gabriel Diggs, Samuel Diggs and Anne Benson. He is also survived by extended family and many friends.
