He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Edward Harper Armstrong and Mary Marvel Lloyd Armstrong; his sister Mary Jane Hinton (Betty Lou Loggans); his wife Lucy Armstrong; his sons, Daniel Edward Armstrong and Richard (Dorsey); his daughter-in-law Sally; and his daughters, Debra Ferrantelle (Frank) and Denise Burch (Larry). He was also cherished by nine grandchildren and their spouses and 13 great grandchildren.
