She was predeceased by: her parents, Horace Westmen and Mildred Westmen; and her siblings, Bob Westmen and Jan Westmen Taylor. She is survived by: her pet Bailey; her husband Chuck Battey Jr.; her children, Chuck III (Marilyn), David and Susan Fraser (John); her grandchildren, Lindsay, Robbie, Molly Fraser and Sean; and her children, Kyle and Willa Battey.
While in Kansas City, Joan served as a volunteer and/or board member for the Red Cross, Shawnee Mission Education Foundation, Wildwood Outdoor Education Center, Village Presbyterian Church and Children's Mercy Hospital.
