He was predeceased by : his wife Marybeth Leary; his parents, Daniel J. Leary and Alice Ryan Leary; and his brothers, Bob (Hettie Ann) and Bill Leary.

He is survived by : his children, Mike (Mary Ellen), Mary Kay, Meg Rosen and Mark Leary (Kelly); his grandchildren, Conor, Michael (Nola), Caroline, Hayden Leary, Nicole, Lindsey Rosen, Anna, Ben and Charlotte Leary; and his siblings, Daniel (Pat), Kathleen and Mary Alice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to DeSmet Jesuit High School, or St. Louis University High School is appreciated.
