He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Hanks and Ethel Hanks (Buck); his former wife Carol Sue Graham; his wife Joan Hanks; his siblings, Fred Hanks, Bruce Hanks, Loraine Westfall, Marilyn Wells and Hildreth Wilson; and his stepbrother Merrill Chesebrough.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara Woodruff (Cresia Stark) of Greenville, Nancy Hanks of Pratt, Carla Chambers (Larry) of Trenton, Missouri and Heather Powers (Michael) of Chillicothe; his grandchildren, Cristin Chambers of Cullan, Williams, Brooklyn Williams, Shelby Bethards, Tyler Bethards (Amanda), Skyler Rhoades (Riley) and Taylor Powers; his great grandchildren, Emily Bennett, Caitlin Chambers and Tate Bethards; and his great great grandchild Kyler Chambers-Shiner.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lindley Funeral Home - Chillicothe (910 Washington St, Chillicothe, MO 64601). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Lindley Funeral Home (910 Washington St, Chillicothe, MO 64601).
