She was predeceased by: her mother Maxine Hawkins-Nelson; her former spouses, Kenneth Gale Sherwood and Johnnie Shepherd; and her siblings, Gladys Hinton, Junior, Melvin and Albert Hinton.

She is survived by: her husband Jack Coons of Canton; her son K. G. Sherwood of Canton; her grandchildren, Dakota Sherwood (Cara) of Canton and Kayla Sherwood of Kahoka; and her great grandchildren, Coldyn Sherwood, Benelli Sherwood, Jensen Baum, Callum Baum and Azaiah Baum. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
