He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Shirrell and Gertie Shirrell (Smith); and his siblings, Clarence Lee, Cletis, Wilma, Wanda and Mildred.

He is survived by: his wife Sherri Shirrell; his daughters, Kristin Roop (Jared) and Erica McCormick (Zach); his former wife Linda Shirrell; his children, Trena Shirrell and Tonya Ferris (Daryl); his grandchildren, Breanna, Luc Ferris, Owen, Silas, Leo Roop, Henry and Elijah McCormick; his mother-in-law Janice Boeller; his siblings, Clinton Shirrell (Elaine), Bonnie Christie (Shelby) and Charles Shirrell; and his sister-in-law Donna Shirrell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
