With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John E. Young of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 23, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Edgar and Janie Ruth Vaughn Young; his wife Rachael; his daughter Rebecca Atkins; and his siblings, Ruth Lagasse and Robert Young.
He is survived by: his children, Lawrence "Larry" Young (Deborah) of Cape Girardeau, Eric Young (Nanci) of Pocahontas, Bryan Young (Amy) of Jackson, Melinda Mullins (Michael) of Waterloo, Kirsten "Kris" Rasche (Christopher) of Rogers, Sarah Young of Cape Girardeau and Lucinda "Cindy" Young of Cape Girardeau; his son-in-law Carl "David" Atkins of Cape Girardeau; his sisters, Mary Sue Drake (Larry) of Ozark and Barbara Renz (Greg) of Fort Worth, Texas; his grandchildren, Crystal Monahan (Mark Hudoba), Carly Winters (Lee), Jessica Atkins, Lauren Thomas (Joseph), Andrew Young (Kristie), Jonathan Young (Natalie), Erin Ivy (Cody), Mary Kathryn "Katie" Bromley (Tim), Jason Young, Elise Mullins, Sean Mullins (Zhanah Wyche-Mullins), Lindsay Reams (Ryan), Veronica Young (Hunter), Kendall Young, Michael Rasche (Lisa), Allison Brenner (Scott), Caitlin Rodgers (Tyler) and Stephen Rasche (Marzée); his great grandchildren, Alexandrea, Shawn, Danielle, Trei, Kiana, Ethan, Gabriel, Jane, Nolan, Leah, Joelle, Aria, Silas, Joanna, Lincoln, Juliette, Jace, Linley, Flinn and Samuel; and his great great grandchildren, Mason, Logan, Callen, Maylee, Waylon, Daniel Lee, Silas, Maverick and Zaylen.
