Shirley Evans Obituary
We are sad to announce that on October 26, 2025, at the age of 92, Shirley Evans (Carthage, Missouri) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Shirley may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Edward and Kathryn Hoofnagle (Williams); her husband Ernest S. Evans, Jr.; and her brothers, Robert Hoofnagle and Richard Hoofnagle.
She is survived by: her sons, Steve Evans and Jim Evans; and her brother Russell Hoofnagle.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Knell Mortuary (308 W Chestnut St, Carthage, MO 64836). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Missouri Bible Institute, for training of ministers, or the Carthage Humane Society, in care of Knell Mortuary.
