It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Lavon King of Carthage, Missouri, born in Joplin, Missouri, who passed away on August 13, 2022, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, John Hurtt and Wilma Hurtt (Thomas); and her siblings, Barney Hurtt, Kenneth Hurtt and Beverly Johnson.

She is survived by : her husband Kenneth King; her children, Tammy Phillips (Joe) of Joplin, James Hill Jr. of Joplin, Kenny King (Mindy) of Joplin and Beverly Carpenter (James) of Carthage; her grandchildren, Misty Southard of Tiffany Miller, J. J, Phillips, Starlett Hill, Payton Carpenter, Colton Carpenter and Kobi Carpenter; and her siblings, Russell Hurtt of Joplin and Mary Ann Wiley of Harrington, KS. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
