Susie left this world on May 1, 2026 at the age of 64, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jimmie Houk and Charlene Kettner (Kettner); her siblings, Marie Allen and Jimmie Houk Jr.; and her grandchild Mikayla Scott.
She is survived by: her husband Claude McDowell; her children, Christopher McDowell, Justin Scott, Donny McDowell, Leann Kmick (Aaron), Stephanie McDowell and Sara Eimer; her sister Sandy Houk; and her stepmother Marina Houk. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren; one great‑grandchild.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 6th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mason-Woodard Chapel (3701 E 7th St, Joplin, MO 64801). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Stone Cemetery.
