He was predeceased by : his parents, David Bearler and Marian Cox (Bieser); his half-brothers, Mike Miranda and Dayne Cox; and his brother-in-law Travis Price.

He is survived by : his children, Marissa Taft (Brent), Brenda Cather (Nathaniel), Diana Heckwine, Rocky Cox, Charles Cox, Jr. and William Cox; his sisters, Dava Knotts (Rick) and Carolyn Price; his grandchildren, Dylan A. Stout, Joseph H. Stout, Mason M. Stout, Baxter C. Cather, Damen Heckwine, Dani Heckwine, Zackary Heckwine, Sofia Taft, Nevin Cox and Maleah Cox; and his half-sister Emma Ruth Estay. He is also survived by three half-brothers and one half-sister.
