He was predeceased by: his sons, Jeffrey Ellis and Barry Ellis; and his brothers, Joseph M. Ellis (late Pamela) and Bernard G. Ellis (late Ruth). He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dotty" Kaplan Ellis; his sons, Steven Ellis (Jeanie) and Robert Ellis (Julie); his grandchildren, Jordan Ellis (Megan), Jessica Schlager (Jeff), Jeremy Ellis, Matthew Ellis (Jenna), Kayla Ellis, Natalie Hummel (Jack), Rachel Ellis and Sophia Ellis; and his great grandchildren, Amelia Schlager, Gavin Schlager, Nash Ellis, Alden Ellis and Mallory Hummel.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM and from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM. A shiva will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ellis Residence (14041 Baywood Villages Dr, Chesterfield, MO 63017). A burial will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 at the Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery (9125 Ladue Rd, St. Louis, MO 63124).
