She was predeceased by: her parents, James L. Freeman and Elizabeth Freeman (Rotterman); and her siblings, Ed Freeman, Jim Freeman and Betty McManus (Freeman).
She is survived by: her husband Bert; her children, Donnie Whitsell (Connie), Gary Whitsell (Vickie), Judy Baker (Mike), David Whitsell (Julie) and Nancy Christie (Barry); and her grandchildren, Paul Whitsell (Christie), Brad Whitsell (Amanda), Melissa Eastbourn (Jonathan), Rebecca Ripperger (Kyle), Corey Whitsell (Kiersten), Katie Baker-Orr, Jim Baker, Andrew Whitsell (Megan), Max Whitsell (Patty), Avery Whitsell, Danielle Christie, Jordan Christie and Courtney Christie. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory (5005 Frederick Ave, Suite A, St Joseph, MO 64506). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Hope United Church of Christ (19999 State Rte W, Cosby, MO 64436).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Hope United Church of Christ, Cosby, MO; Three Rivers Hospice of St. Joseph, MO; or the Clarksdale Lions Club.
