He is survived by: his daughters, Iris Ann Cates (William Rickie) of Clarkton and Melba Geneva Bishop (Eddie) of Halls, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Jessica Friese, Joseph Cates, Donna Brown, Larry Cronan, Jr., James Lee Thornberry, Oris Thornberry, Levi Thornberry and Twyla Juarez; his sister-in-law Shirley Rudisill; and his nephew Hosea Day. He is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.
