He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Cavender and Mildred Cavender (Shouse); his wife Brenda Breckenridge-Cavender; and his sisters, Frances Burris, Betty Renn, Linda Brandt and Nellie Haslag.
He is survived by: his daughter Cheryl Montenguise (Anthony); his grandchildren, Chanel Tompkins (Autumn) and Michael Tompkins Jr.; and his siblings, Allen Cavender (Carol), John Cavender and Mary Kinney (Greg). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
