He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Gebhardt and Elizabeth Gebhardt (Rienstra); and his brothers, Richard and Ray. He is survived by: his wife Janet Bertsch; his daughters, Debra Hellmann (Bob), Linda Dains (Mike) and Pamela Knowles (Jeff); his brother Fred Gebhardt; his grandchildren, Dustin, Dillon, Andrea and Adam; and his great grandchildren, Connor, Owen, Kennedy and Millie.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association in James' honor.
