He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Giles "Woody" Carnes and Charlene Carnes (Downs); his wife Lisa Carnes of Columbia; his children, Cassy Carnes of Columbia and Chris Carnes (Arielle); his sister Sharon Carnes-West (David) of Issaquah, Washington; and his grandchildren, Cameron, Adelynn and Chase Carnes. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
