He was loved and cherished by many people including: his daughter Jacqueline; his pet Scout McCarty; his former wife Joanne McCarty; his parents, Greg McCarty (Karen) and Kim Klein McCarty; his siblings, Jennifer McCarty, Tina Williams, Asa Shepherd (Mandy), Ira Shepherd (Janice), Eli Shepherd (Andrea) and Ian Shepherd (Aimee); and his nieces and nephews, Ellie Matlock, Addie Williams, Kiaria Marzuco, Addyson, Ethan, Jackson, Brooklynn, Payton, Reaghan, Logan, Hayden, Audrey Shepherd, Ella Miller, Merrin, Lorne, Madelyn Shepherd and Anthony Gillespie.
