He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Gipson and Lucille Hunter Gipson; his wife Pauline Kastendieck Gipson; and his brothers, George and Jack (Pauline Kastendieck Gipson).

He is survived by: his children, Kent Gipson of Kansas City, Kevin Gipson (Linda) of Springfield and Karen Alderson of Shawnee, KS.; his grandchildren, Stuart Gipson (Jessica) of Rolla Missouri, Sam Gipson of Springfield and Kristen Alderson of Shawnee, Kansas.; and his great grandchildren, Harper, Josiah and Micah Gipson.
