He was predeceased by : his parents, Thomas H. Smith and Nellie J. Smith (Whittle); his sister Mary; and his nephew Jim Stoumbaugh. He is survived by : his sister Ava Stoumbaugh; his niece Janet Marso (Alan); his great-nephews, Brian Foster (Tina) of Crocker, Kent Stoumbaugh of Crocker and Ryan Stoumbaugh; his great-niece Amanda Ward (Nick); and also, Elaina Foster, Ava Ward, Lilly Ward, Alli Foster and Riley Foster. He is also survived by friends at the Workshop and other relatives and friends.

“I was Harold's friend and long-time bus driver, and I am so saddened by this loss. He was one of the nicest gentlemen I have ever met. He sure had alot of great stories! He always looked so handsome when the nice clothes and cowboy hat came out for special occasions. I will always remember him so very fondly. He spoke often of his family and loved you all dearly.”
