He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Happel and Mary Happel; his brother Charles Happle; his son David Happle; and his sisters, Erma Eaton-Thurmond, Pearl Norris, Mary Martin, Lola Mae Bartle, Pauline Adam and Catherine Gushwa.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Happle (Holweg) of Cuba; his sons, Greg Happle (Kathy) of Nixa and Jim Happle Jr. of Cuba; his siblings, Kenneth Happle of St. James and Norma Russo of Sarcoxie; his grandchildren, Christine Collins of Ozark, Matt Happle (Amber Crabb) of Ozark, Megan McCord of Illinois and Jacob Ownby of Illinois; his great grandchildren, Katie Barber (Rick), Logan Collins and Parker Collins; and his great great grandchild Brett Barber. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
