Vera I. Whalen, born on February 20, 1935 in Steelville, Missouri, passed away on October 19, 2026. Vera leaves behind family members and others who acknowledge this loss. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Young and Wynema Young (Underhill); her husband Danny Richard Whalen; her siblings, Roy Young (Earline), Harold Clay Young and Vivian Morrrison; her siblings-in-law, Agnes Sanders (Bud), Ernest Whalen (Evelyn), Loretta Whalen, Melba Offield (Dudley), Gary Whalen (Charlotte), Raymond Whalen (Joan), Junior Whalen (Pat), Sue Ross and Windle Craig; her children-in-law, Rodger Bridgeman, Sr. and Junko Whalen; and her grandson Scotty Whalen.
She is survived by: her children, Danny Richard "Rick" Whalen Jr. (Kim), Karen Graham-Hanna, Steven Whalen, Dwain Whalen (Renee) and Brenda Bridgeman; and her grandchildren, Jill Swinford (Jeff), Samantha Maynard (Scott), Rachel Stewart, Jennifer Whalen, Danielle Shafferkoetter (Jesse), Jessica Cilia (John), Katherine Whalen, Erin Pollard (Justin), Aimee McPherson (Andrew), Jeremy Hanna (Alyssa), Brett Whalen (Pam) and Shannon Whalen. She is also survived by twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home & Crematory (904 W Washington Blvd, Cuba, MO 65453). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 2:45 PM at the Steelville Cemetery.
