Ruel D. Hooper Obituary
With sadness, we share the passing of Ruel D. Hooper (De Soto, Missouri). Ruel, born on January 22, 1936, passed away on September 28, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Edgar and Lilly Ella Hooper; his wives, Marilyn Hooper (Davis), Betty Jean Hooper (Anderson) and Karen Laswell; and his grandsons, Raoul Pingel and Timothy Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Laswell (late Resa) of Jackson, MS, Phillip Laswell (Glenda) of Bonnieville, KY and Christine Brandon (Frank) of Kinmundy, IL; his granddaughter Brandi Ortt (Mike) of O'Fallon, MO; his children, Rebecca Jones of Fairbanks, AK, Stephan Manning of Phoenix, AZ, Jacob Brandon of Salem, IL and Grace Smith (late Tim) of Naples, FL; and his great grandchildren, Emmaleigh Brandon, Elisa Smith, Olivia Ortt, Kathryn Ortt, Kane Joliff and Luca Brandon.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home (220 N Main St, De Soto, MO 63020). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Rose Lawn Cemetery (1101 Missouri Ave, Crystal City, MO 63019).
Ruel served in the the U.S. Navy Reserves and he worked as maintenance supervisor at Alvey, Inc. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org).
