He was predeceased by: his parents, R. O. Kerns and Esther Kerns. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen M. Schreck; and his siblings, Donna Riddick and Curtis Kerns. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Nature Conservancy or the World Wildlife Fund.
