He was predeceased by: his parents, R. B. James and Elsie James; and his wife Norma Christian. He is survived by: his children, Tami Etherton (Mark) of Crawfordsville and Thomas K. James (Kimberly) of O'Fallon, Missouri; his siblings, Judi Boyle of Dexter, Steve James of Fredericktown and John James of Montgomery City, Missouri; his grandchildren, Kyle Etherton, Jake Etherton, Aidan James (Kelly) and Callie James; and his great grandchild Jackson Etherton.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Mathis Funeral Home - Dexter (125 W Stoddard St, Dexter, MO 63841). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
